eat. Again, take the beet which groweth anywhere,<br />

seethe it in a good deal <strong>of</strong> water, then give <strong>of</strong> this to<br />

the sick two good bowls full to drink ; let him sliield<br />

himself against cold. Of late digestion ; let a man<br />

drink in vinegar yarrow ; that medicine is also good<br />

for all diseases <strong>of</strong> the bladder. Of late digestion ; nine<br />

little grains <strong>of</strong> the seed <strong>of</strong> rue rubbed small, with<br />

three bowls full <strong>of</strong> water (), add these to a cup full<br />

<strong>of</strong> vinegar, boil them, then administer to<br />

be drunk for<br />

nine days, in succession. Of late digestion ; take <strong>of</strong><br />

the red nettle, so much as with two li<strong>and</strong>s thou<br />

mayest grasp, seethe in a cup full <strong>of</strong> water, drink<br />

after a nights fasting. It is advisable if he taketh<br />

mallow with its sprouts ; let him. seethe them in water,<br />

give this to be drunk. They who care not for these<br />

leechdoms in this disease, on them then eometli dropsy,<br />

liver pain, <strong>and</strong> sore or swelling <strong>of</strong> spleen, retention <strong>of</strong><br />

urine, inflation <strong>of</strong> the wamb, loin pain, stones wax in<br />

the bladder,<br />

<strong>and</strong> s<strong>and</strong>.<br />

According to the mans powers one shall administer<br />

the leechdoms which are suitable for the head <strong>and</strong><br />

heart, for the wamb <strong>and</strong> bladder, <strong>and</strong> according to<br />

the time <strong>of</strong> the year; he who observeth not this,<br />

doth him more scathe than boot. He shall employ<br />

rose oil, vinegar, <strong>and</strong> wine, <strong>and</strong> mint leaves rubbed<br />

into honey, <strong>and</strong> with that shall rub <strong>and</strong> smear the<br />

unsmooth tongue.<br />

For late digestion; a wort liight olusatrum, which<br />

is good to drink. Again, boil in water roots <strong>of</strong> lilies,<br />

give that to be drunk. If the wamb wax too great<br />
