For bladder pain ; wood marche <strong>and</strong> sauce alone<br />

boil them strongly in ale ; administer to drink, <strong>and</strong> to<br />

eat a roasted starling.<br />

If a man cannot mie, <strong>and</strong> stones wax in the bladder ;<br />

boil sundcorns ^ in ale, <strong>and</strong> parsley ;<br />

give hirti this to<br />

drink.<br />

xxi.<br />

If a mans excrement be lodged ; boil wormwood<br />

in sour ale, <strong>and</strong> add butter thereto; it will soon be<br />

well with him, if he drinketh it.<br />

xxii.<br />

For diarrhoea ; cinqfoil, brooklime, churmel, lupin<br />

pound the worts, <strong>and</strong> boil them in milk ;<br />

give this to<br />

the man to drink warm in the morning <strong>and</strong> in the<br />

evening. Work thus a brewit for the same : wild<br />

cunila, brooklime ; boil in milk to a third part, remove<br />

the worts from the milk, shed wheaten meal thereon,<br />

<strong>and</strong> let him eat the brewit cold, <strong>and</strong> let him sip the<br />

milk, it will soon be well with him. If the brewit<br />

<strong>and</strong> the drink remain within him, thou mayst cure the<br />

man ; if they flow away, it will be better for him, that<br />

thou should not meddle with him, his death sickness<br />

is upon him.<br />
