7. For a head wark, talce everlasting,- }jound it in<br />

cold water, rub it between the h<strong>and</strong>s, <strong>and</strong> pound<br />

cl<strong>of</strong>fing,^ Ji^pply it thereto, bathe therewith. For head<br />

ache, take hove ^ <strong>and</strong> wine <strong>and</strong> vinegar ; sweeten with<br />

honey, <strong>and</strong> smear therewith.<br />

8. For head ache, take blossoms <strong>of</strong> dill,^ seethe in<br />

oil, smear the temples therewith. For the same, take<br />

ashes <strong>of</strong> harts horn, mingle with vinegar <strong>and</strong> juice <strong>of</strong><br />

rose, bind on the cheek. For the same, take a vessel<br />

full <strong>of</strong> leaves <strong>of</strong> green rue, <strong>and</strong> a spoon full <strong>of</strong> mustard<br />

seed, rul> together, add the white <strong>of</strong> an egg, a<br />

spoon full, that the salve may be thick ; smear with a<br />

feather on the side which is not sore.<br />

9. For ache <strong>of</strong> half the head," take the red nettle<br />

<strong>of</strong> one stalk, bruise it, mingle with vinegar <strong>and</strong> the<br />

white <strong>of</strong> an egg, put all together, anoint therewith.<br />

10. For a half heads ache, bruise in vinegar with<br />

oil the clusters <strong>of</strong> the laurus, smear the cheek with<br />

that.<br />

11. For the same, take juice <strong>of</strong> rue, wring on the<br />

nostril which is on the sore side.<br />

12. For a half heads tiche, take dust <strong>of</strong> the clusters<br />

<strong>of</strong> laurel, <strong>and</strong> mustard, mingle them together, pour<br />

vinegar upon them, smear with that the sore side.<br />

Or mix Avith wine the clusters <strong>of</strong> laurel. Or vubjine<br />

in vinegar the seed <strong>of</strong> rue,'' put equal quantities <strong>of</strong><br />

both, rub the back <strong>of</strong> the neck with that.<br />

13. Tokens <strong>of</strong> the disease. The disease cometh <strong>of</strong><br />
