worm on the feet. Twelve in all against " dry<br />

diseases.<br />

xlviii. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> for the worms which vex men<br />

inwardly, <strong>and</strong> against worms which be in the inwards<br />

<strong>of</strong> children, <strong>and</strong> children s inwards sore. In all twelve<br />

receipts against them.<br />

xlix. A leechdom, single, separately, against the small<br />

worm.<br />

1. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> again h<strong>and</strong> worms <strong>and</strong> dew worms,<br />

<strong>and</strong> if a worm eat the head ; a wax salve against the<br />

h<strong>and</strong> worm. Six receipts ; four sorts in all.<br />

li. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> against worms which eat mans Hesh.<br />

Hi. Two leechdoms against lice.<br />

liii. Two leechdoms against penetrating worms.<br />

liv. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> for a worm eaten body <strong>and</strong> a<br />

mortified.<br />

Iv. A leechdom. for a stricken body.<br />

Ivi. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> for a paralyzed body, <strong>and</strong> a bath<br />

salve.<br />

Ivii. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> <strong>and</strong> drinks <strong>and</strong> salves against tlic<br />

disease called " fig."<br />

Iviii. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> for a wen salve <strong>and</strong> for wen boils.<br />

lix. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> for paralysis, that is in English, lyft<br />

addle, <strong>and</strong> for " neurisn." ^ Three.<br />

Ix. Leechdom for a burn ; <strong>and</strong> salves. Eight in all.<br />

Ixi. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> for a pain in the joints, <strong>and</strong> for the<br />

lubricating secretion at the joints, called^ synovia, <strong>and</strong><br />

if the synovia leak <strong>and</strong> the joint oil run out. Of all<br />

(these) receipts fourteen.<br />

Ixii. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> for fever, to heal it ; drinks for that<br />

against a tertain fever, <strong>and</strong> a quartan fever, <strong>and</strong> a<br />

quotidian fever ; <strong>and</strong> against lent disease, that is<br />

{typhus) fever, <strong>and</strong> how against the disorder a man<br />
