<strong>and</strong> for late digestion, or if the wamb be overgrown<br />

<strong>and</strong> wounded ; <strong>and</strong> if a man be blown out inwardly<br />

<strong>and</strong> for prurience, <strong>and</strong> itchings <strong>of</strong> the wamb ; nine<br />

XXXV. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> for the overfilling 07' surfeit <strong>of</strong><br />

children, <strong>and</strong> for their wamb, <strong>and</strong> if their meat digest<br />

not well, <strong>and</strong> if sweat pass from them <strong>and</strong> stink<br />

foully.<br />

xxxvi. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> <strong>of</strong> pain in the milt, <strong>and</strong> that<br />

the milt is on the left side, <strong>and</strong> tokens <strong>of</strong> the disease,<br />

how reckless the sick are, <strong>and</strong> how long the milt<br />

is, <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> the film or membrane <strong>of</strong> the milt on the<br />

left side, <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> splenetic laughter, which cometh <strong>of</strong> the<br />

milt, how the milt suffereth everything <strong>of</strong> that which<br />

other limbs suffer either hot or cold; <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> the bath,<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> sexual commerce, <strong>and</strong> whence the heat cometh<br />

<strong>and</strong> the cold <strong>of</strong> the milt : eight receipts.<br />

xxxvii. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> how a man shall tend the man<br />

within <strong>and</strong> without with cold <strong>and</strong> hot leechdoms,<br />

<strong>and</strong> what meat he is to take, <strong>and</strong> what he is to<br />

forego.<br />

xxxviii. <strong>Leechdoms</strong> how a man shall cure the humours<br />

<strong>and</strong> the livid complexion by external applications,<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> the evil humours <strong>of</strong> the milt, <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> the<br />

lubricity <strong>of</strong> the humours <strong>of</strong> the milt.<br />

xxxix. A leeehdom for a windy swollen state <strong>of</strong> the<br />

milt, which cometh <strong>of</strong> eating <strong>of</strong> apples, <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> nuts,<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> peas, <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> honey, <strong>and</strong> which pufFeth up<br />

throughout the rope gut, <strong>and</strong> the intestines, <strong>and</strong> the<br />

Gastric juice.
