I'm a scientist, and I look at <strong>the</strong> evidence that this<br />

terminal will propose. One of <strong>the</strong> articles in <strong>the</strong> paper, one<br />

of <strong>the</strong> editorials, I should say, in <strong>the</strong> paper by a person who<br />

was against people who were against <strong>the</strong> terminal said that<br />

those of us that were against it were looking at gross<br />

exaggerations, hyper emotionalism, and that we were a people of<br />

mass hysteria.<br />

We look today at <strong>the</strong> global issues, and this is an<br />

issue that goes beyond <strong>Bellingham</strong>. Global warming is a<br />

national -- or international fact. People, scientists<br />

throughout <strong>the</strong> world have supported that. Ice core samples<br />

have shown that C02 ratings are <strong>the</strong> highest <strong>the</strong>y've been in<br />

800,000 years.<br />

But let me address some of <strong>the</strong> economic issues of<br />

this, that global warming causes major wea<strong>the</strong>r events. And<br />

<strong>the</strong>se major wea<strong>the</strong>r events, last year in 2011, <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> first<br />

time, ten separate wea<strong>the</strong>r events cost more than a billion<br />

dollars each.<br />

The acidity of <strong>the</strong> oceans caused <strong>from</strong> this is causing<br />

a drop in fishing which affects 100 million people throughout<br />

<strong>the</strong> world who depend on that. As a matter of fact, 20 to<br />

25 percent of <strong>the</strong> animal protein of all --<br />
