GATEWAY PACIFIC TERMINAL EIS SCOPING HEARING VOL. II
COURT REPORTER: BETH DRUMMOND PROCEEDING DATE: October 27, 2012
Page 45
traveling at speeds of 55 miles per hour and 35 miles per
hour, what additional delays will emergency response
vehicles face?
Twenty-four trains because if the terminal is
built, it can be expanded in the future. Using statistics
of the emergency response vehicle -- using statistics of the
emergency vehicle response cases per population, I ask the
EIS to address how many emergency vehicle response cases in
a year will receive a longer response time?
The only way I see not to increase response time
is to not increase train traffic. And I ask you all, if
there ever needs to be an increase in train traffic, should
it really be spent on coal?
MS. STRAUSZ-CLARK: 22, 23, and 24. 22 you're at
the microphone. 23 and 24 you're at the desk.
Please state your name for the record.
THE SPEAKER: My name is Danne Neill. I am a
real estate broker with Whatcom County. I work in Whatcom
County, San Juan County, and some in Skagit County.
Deeply concerned about this facility, and I ask
that a study be incorporated in order to look at the
possible effects on property values.
I've heard people say to me: Well, it really
only affects those big houses down by the water, and you
know, it's not that big of a deal.
