growth and development of these young people who live in the

THE SPEAKER: My name is Bob Burr, and I live at 1130
- 40th Street in Bellingham.
One of the few things I'm proud of in my life is I'm a
member of the Bellingham 12, 1 of 12 people, 2 of whom have
spoken earlier, that laid down on the railroad tracks to stop a
coal train and are now facing trial over it. I did that, and
I'm here today because I care.
I care about the planet. I care about my
grandchildren. We are in a climate crisis. Not climate
change; it's climate crisis. We're either at or over the
tipping point. We don't need any coal terminals. We're at the
point of no return.
We are in the Squalicum High School auditorium, a
House of Thunder, and the Atlantic Ocean is facing the perfect
storm, the mighty storm.
I'm concerned about taxes. I'm concerned about what
it will raise my property taxes and those of others in in
Bellingham to pay for something that they did not want in the
first place.
