She haspublished more than 140 articles in various journals.Sam KundishoraSam Kundishora is an electronics, in<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>and</strong> communicationstechnology engineer <strong>and</strong> co-founder <strong>and</strong> Director of Globalinfrastructure Anti-Corruption Centre (GIACC) in Zimbabwe.He is President of the African Engineers Forum, Vice Chairman ofthe St<strong>and</strong>ing Committee on In<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>and</strong> Communication ofthe World Federation of <strong>Engineering</strong> Organizations, a memberof the World Council of Civil Engineer’s Executive Council, <strong>and</strong>Permanent Secretary <strong>for</strong> the Zimbabwe Ministry of In<strong>for</strong>mation<strong>and</strong> Communication Technology. He was Vice President of theFederation of African Organisations of Engineers <strong>and</strong> a <strong>for</strong>merPresident of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers, <strong>and</strong> hasworked extensively in academia <strong>and</strong> industry.Andrew LambAndrew Lamb has a degree in engineering from the Universityof Cambridge <strong>and</strong> became the Chief Executive of EWB-UKin December 2008 after being awarded a World of Differencegrant from the Vodafone Foundation. Andrew became interestedin engineering <strong>and</strong> international <strong>development</strong> followinga talk in 2002 at a fledging student club called Engineers WithoutBorders, <strong>and</strong> got involved in fundraising. After graduating,Andrew worked with the University of Cambridge Office <strong>for</strong>Community Affairs <strong>and</strong> co-founded the Humanitarian Centre.He worked <strong>for</strong> more than three years with disaster relief organizationRedR, including working at their office in Nairobi. He isthe technical editor of the UNESCO <strong>Engineering</strong> Report <strong>and</strong> aVisiting Lecturer <strong>for</strong> the <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>and</strong> Technology Board.Allyson LawlessAllyson Lawless is a civil <strong>and</strong> structural engineer, Fellow of theInstitute of Structural <strong>Engineering</strong> (UK) <strong>and</strong> Managing Director,Allyson Lawless <strong>and</strong> Associates Pty Ltd. Exposed to therealities of South Africa, Allyson has made a real connectionbetween civil engineering <strong>and</strong> the people that she serves, workinghard to bridge the <strong>challenges</strong> presented by existing gaps. In2000 she was the first woman to be appointed President of theSA Institution of Civil <strong>Engineering</strong> in the then almost 100 yearhistory of SAICE. Since then it has been her drive to make a differencefrom the highest levels in government to communitiesin need of infrastructure. She worked at addressing imbalancesin the civil engineering profession <strong>and</strong> in 2005 published thebook Numbers <strong>and</strong> Needs in local government: Civil engineering– the critical profession <strong>for</strong> service delivery – a wake up callto address the capacity crisis in SA civil engineering that hasbecome a national reference guide on skills <strong>development</strong>.381
