He alsoserves as President of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence(CAAI), Chairman of CAST-UN Consultative Committeeon IT (CCIT), Vice-President of World Federation of EngineeringOrganizations ( WFEO), Chairman of WFEO Committee onInformation and Communication. He was Vice President ofBUPT (1992-2001), President of Asia-Pacific Neural NetworkAssembly (2001-2002), Associate Editor for IEEE Transactionson Neural Networks (1993-2005).
