SECTION 8: MITIGATION STRATEGY8.2 MITIGATION GOALS44 CFR Requirement44 CFR Part 201.6(c)(3)(i):The mitigation strategy shall include a description of mitigation goals to reduce or avoid long-termvulnerabilities to the identified hazards.As part of the Plan upgrade conducted in 2009, the LMS Working Group revisited the goals from theexisting Plan. This was done at a facilitated discussion and brainstorming session of the LMS WorkingGroup on July 8, 2009 (for more details, please see the summary of the second LMS Update meeting inSection 2: Planning Process). The review ensures that the previously identified goals remain valid. As aresult of this review, the LMS Working Group recommended that the existing goals (Table 8.2) remainthe same. Each of the following goal statements represent a broad target for Volusia County and itsparticipating jurisdictions and partners to achieve through the implementation of its more detailedMitigation Action Plan provided in Section 9: Mitigation Action Plan.
