<strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Local</strong> Mitigation Strategy UpdateMitigation Strategy MeetingDaytona Beach International AirportMain Terminal, Airport Room700 Catalina DriveDaytona Beach, FL 32114July 8, 2009, 1:00 – 5:00 PMMINUTESAttendees: See attached roster.1) Introductions<strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Local</strong> Mitigation Strategy (<strong>LMS</strong>) Task Force Chair and DeltonaDeputy Fire Chief, Robert Rogers, opened the meeting and thanked everyone forattending. PBS&J Project Manager, Lisa Flax presented the minutes from theprevious meeting (6/4/09) for discussion. After a brief discussion, it was determinedthat there were minor changes that were needed to be made. The meeting minuteswere approved unanimously by the <strong>LMS</strong> Working Group, pending revisions asrequested.2) <strong>LMS</strong> Goals UpdatePBS&J Project Manager, Lisa Flax facilitated discussion about the need to reviewthe goals and objectives from the existing plan to determine if they are stillapplicable. A handout of the existing goals and objectives was provided and after ageneral discussion, it was determined that the existing goals and objectives are stillapplicable. Don Findell from Lake Helen made a motion to leave the goals andobjectives as they are. Joe Daly from Edgewater seconded the motion, which wasunanimously approved.3) Draft Risk AssessmentMs. Flax presented the preliminary maps and analysis for the risk assessmentsections of the plan. The following comments were made regarding the itemspresented:The risk assessment will only be conducted for natural hazardsPBS&J needs to get the most up-to-date base map materials directly fromthe <strong>County</strong>’s GIS Department (Nancy Church)Daytona Shores information needs to be addedReferences to Daytona should be changed to Daytona Beach
