Although the county typically receives a highamount of precipitation each year (around 50 inches), there is risk of wildfire due to the hot, drysummer months. Further, drought and drought-like conditions may occur which could increase theprobability of wildfire occurrence.The wildfire potential for <strong>Volusia</strong> <strong>County</strong> is shown is Figure 5.14. All areas of the county may besusceptible to wildfire, and the wildland-urban interface is an area of concern as more property may beat risk to fire damage in these areas. Further, a large portion of the <strong>County</strong> is at high risk to wildfireevents.
