Constitutional Development of the United States. 3.An analysis of the structure and interpretational changes in the Constitution of the United States.Spring.Prerequisite: CJC 101 or POL 101 or HIS 201 or 202.Note: Also listed as HIS 355.CJC 410. Corrections. 3.Study of the development of juvenile and adult correctional systems. Includes an analysis ofcurrent correctional practices with an overview of various correctional philosophies. Supervisorymethods of correction such as probation and parole are discussed. Involves field visits to variouscorrectional facilities. Fall.Prerequisite: CJC 101 (or CJC 230).CJC 415. Criminal Justice Administration. 3.Introduction to supervisory and administrative issues related to police, correctional and criminaljustice system administration. Various theories of administration are outlined and case studiesare introduced. Special issues and problems related to criminal justice system administration areoutlined and discussed. Special Topics in Criminal Justice and Criminology. 3.This course is intended to facilitate development and sharing of knowledge of important and timelysubjects in the field of Criminal Justice and Criminology by integrating research, theory, policy, andpractice through in-depth examination of issues and questions of concern to the field. Studentsexamine (a) the nature and causes of specific crimes (such as terrorism, organized crime, whitecollar crimes), including incidents, prevalence, and impact on the United States, (b) strategies forpreventing and controlling these violations of criminal law, (c) the current thrust of U.S. policy andorganizational structure for combating such violations, (d) specific problems such crimes present forcriminal justice system agencies.Prerequisite: CJC 101.Note: This is a topics course that may be taken for credit two times provided that the course studies a differenttopic each time.CJC 451.
