34 Financial AidThe Badie T. Clark Nursing Scholarship is to be awarded to a junior or a senior nursingmajor. The recipient is selected by the Department of Nursing in conjunction with the Departmentof Financial Aid.The Class of 1936 Endowed Scholarship was established in recognition of the Class of 1936by endowment gifts from a member of the Class of 1936, Dr. Georgia Brewer Campion. The Classof 1936 Scholarship is awarded annually to one or more <strong>Barton</strong> <strong>College</strong> undergraduate studentswho are active members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with a high school 3.00 GPA.The scholarship may be renewed provided the student maintains a 3.00 GPA.The Cloyd-Hendrix Memorial Physical Education Scholarship was established by theCloyd-Hendrix Family in memory of Dean and Mrs. E.L. Cloyd and Mr. and Mrs. J. Max Hendrix,the parents of Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd. The scholarship is to be awarded to a rising <strong>Barton</strong> <strong>College</strong>senior in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies who is a candidate for teachercertification and who, in the opinion of the Physical Education faculty, has the best general recordin academic achievement and overall contribution to the department. The student must haveachieved a 3.00 GPA in order to be considered for the award.The Lula M. Coan Scholarship was established by Mrs. Coan of Winston-Salem, NorthCarolina, for ministerial students.The Coastal Plains Chapter NCACPA Accounting Endowed Scholarship was establishedby the Coastal Plains Chapter NCACPA. The earnings from the endowment will be disbursedannually to fund one or more scholarships for accounting students. The earnings cannot be used forany other purpose. The accounting faculty within the School of Business in conjunction with theFinancial Aid Office will select recipients. Scholarship recipients (1) must be students enrolled fulltime in the accounting program, (2) must have a cumulative grade point average and accountinggrade point average of 3.00 or higher, (3) must have a demonstrated commitment to become a CPAand to work in the Coastal Plains region after graduation, and (4) must meet other criteria deemedappropriate by the selection committee. The award will be announced in each spring semester. Therecipient will receive the award during the student’s senior year.The Coastal Plains Christian Men’s Fellowship Endowed Scholarship is awarded eachspring by the Department of Religion and Philosophy to a student interested in pursuing a career inchurch related activities.The Eunice Lewis Colclough Scholarship was established to celebrate Eunice’s career inSocial Work and to honor those who dedicate their lives to the field of Social Work. The EuniceLewis Colclough Scholarship is awarded annually to one or more <strong>Barton</strong> <strong>College</strong> students who planto major in Social Work or Education, and are from North Carolina.
