Curriculum and Instruction in Physical Education. 4.Teacher candidates investigate several contemporary physical education curriculums whiledeveloping progressive, sequential lessons and units based on the NC Healthful Living Standards.Application of a reflective framework for analysis provides support or encouragement for changeto increase the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process and environment. Includes a 35-hoursupervised Teaching Lab in middle and high school physical education classes.HPE 400. Scholarship in Health and Human Performance. 2.Junior/senior level HPE/SS majors will demonstrate a depth of understanding and application ofcontent knowledge by independently investigating a topic of choice within the areas of health orhuman performance and produce a scholarly work, rich in content.Note: May be taken for one credit and repeated for a total of two credits.HPE 410. Differentiated Learning in HPE. 2.This course prepares HPE teacher candidates to deliver high quality instruction that meets theneeds of all students within a class that contains students who have physically high, medium, andlow skills, English as a second language, learning disabilities, or are at-risk for failure. This approachto planning helps the teacher work with the entire class by weaving individual goals into the contentand instructional strategies.Courses of Instruction: Physical Education – FitnessAll of these courses may be counted toward the Physical Fitness component in the Sports SciencePerspective in the General <strong>College</strong> Core requirements.
