165 Arts and Sciences: Physical Education, Sport Studies, and GerontologyNote 4: Athletic Training Education majors (and all <strong>Barton</strong> <strong>College</strong> students) have access to healthcareservices as described in the “Student Health Services” section of the <strong>Barton</strong> <strong>College</strong> Datebook and Handbook.Transfer Student AdmissionA traditional student from another accredited baccalaureate athletic training education programmay submit completed coursework for review by the <strong>Barton</strong> <strong>College</strong> Athletic Training EducationProgram Director. A letter from the program director from the previous institution must statethe student is in good standing with that program. The acceptance or waiver of the course(s) iscontingent upon the theoretical and clinical congruence with the equivalent course(s) offered bythe <strong>Barton</strong> <strong>College</strong> ATEP. The interested student would also have to complete the <strong>Barton</strong> <strong>College</strong>ATEP application process. A copy of the procedure/course sequence followed by the traditionalathletic training student may be obtained from the program director.Additional Expenses• Clothing: the student is required to purchase shirts and a name tag ($20 - $25) prior to selectioninto the program.• HBV series of immunizations (or sign a declination form) prior to selection into the program.Students may need additional vaccinations/immunizations, depending on the clinicalassignment. Expense of such vaccinations/immunizations will be paid by the student.• The student must have access to a car/reliable transportation, and cover expenses related totravel (i.e. gas) to clinical rotations, after selection into the program.• NATA membership (recommended) after selection into the program (by the senior year).• Liability insurance annually ($18 - $20) after selection into the program.• Physical examination (no more than six months) prior to application into the program.Technical StandardsThe Athletic Training Education Program at <strong>Barton</strong> <strong>College</strong> is a rigorous and intense educationalprogram that places specific requirements and demands on the students enrolled. The mainobjective of this program is to prepare graduates to enter a variety of employment settings and torender care to a wide spectrum of individuals engaged in physical activity.The Technical Standards, Student Code, and ATEP Student Policies and Procedures Manual, set forthby the Athletic Training Education Program establish the essential qualities considered necessaryfor students selected into this program to achieve the knowledge, skills, and competencies of anentry-level athletic trainer, as well as meet the expectations of the program’s accrediting agency(Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education [CAATE]).The following abilities and expectations must be met by all students admitted to the <strong>Barton</strong> <strong>College</strong>Athletic Training Education Program. In the event a student is unable to fulfill these TechnicalStandards, with or without reasonable accommodation, the student will not be admitted into theprogram, or may be removed from the program, if such a determination is made after official
