257 NursingThe following describes the process:• Recognition is given for the achievement of registered nurse status, noting the demonstrationof acquisition of content and application of required learning.• Placement tests are available for some specific nursing requirements. NUR 213: HealthAssessment, NUR 214: Introduction to Nutrition and NUR 318: Pharmacology haveplacement credit available through the National League for Nursing (www.nln.org.)Summer: Transition to Nursing Major• NUR 305 (3sh): Professional Practice taken in the summer semester (upon successful completionstudents receive credit for NUR 201/202).Fall: (Two Sessions)APP I• NUR 319: Health Maintenance Through the Life Span (a) (4sh)APP II• NUR 320: Health Maintenance Through the Life Span (b) (5sh)Spring: (Two Sessions)APP I• NUR 401: Introduction to Nursing Research (2)• NUR 419: Nursing Leadership (a) (4sh)APP II• NUR 420: Nursing Leadership (b) (5sh)• When NUR 319/320 and NUR 419/420 respectively are completed, credit is given for NUR307 (7sh) and 407 (8sh) respectively.Dismissal from Nursing ProgramA student may be dismissed from NUR 202, 307, 317, 407, 417 at any time for any one ofthe following reasons:• Unsafe practice related to course objectives.• Physical or emotional health problems that do not respond to treatment in a reasonable periodof time as determined by the student’s health care provider, the Dean of the School, and anycombination of the following: level coordinators, course nursing faculty, and the School ofNursing Student Affairs Committee.• Physical or emotional health problems that interfere with successful attainment ofcourse objectives.
