The interior of nature is laid open to the spirit'sperception, and the bidden treasures of earth are exposed to its view.When we desire to be with our friends on earth, we have only to will it,and our desire is instantly gratified. AVe can visit the spheres below, butnot those above us until we are prepared for admission into thcui by agradual process of development.529. The first spiritual sphere is tbe abode of those spirits whose desiresare low and sensuous ; they pursue those pleasures which arc most congenialto their unrefined and grovellinp: natures ; but as their moral facultiesbecome strengthened, they lose their taste for debasing pursuits, andrise in the scale of being. The brightness of the halo which envelopesthe spirit is increased in proportion to its increase of moral and intellectualgreatness.530.
