Text encoding<strong>Nuance</strong> <strong>Vocalizer</strong> supports the Microsoft CP1252 (WinLatin1) and ISO-8859-1character encoding for plaintext input of American Spanish characters.If you are using <strong>Vocalizer</strong> in SSML mode, <strong>Vocalizer</strong> can interpret ISO-8859-1input characters if you provide an appropriate XML header: Las letras acentuadas son muy usadas en español For more information, see “Encoding” on page 39.RegionalismFor American Spanish, <strong>Vocalizer</strong> supports various conventions for numbers,dates, and addresses. Since these variations cause conflicting interpretations, <strong>Vocalizer</strong>supports the -region command-line option to determine the normalizationconvention. Set -region to either US or CALA to specify the set of conventionsrequired.
