AbbreviationsSingle-letter abbreviationsAbbreviations may consist of one or more alphabetic characters, which areeither all lowercase, all uppercase, or have an uppercase first letter followed bylowercase letters. You can separate abbreviations from words by adding:■A period and a space—For example, Vocalizer, v. 3■A period only—For example, Vocalizer, v.3■A space only—For example, Vocalizer, v 3Single-letter abbreviations, homographic abbreviations, and measurementabbreviations are described next.Note: As a general rule, use a period and an optional space to terminate anabbreviation.Ambiguous situations may occur between single-letter abbreviations andinitials.
