Memory requirementsNuance recommends the following minimum memory requirements:■■■For 1-20 channels, 512 MBFor 20-50 channels, 768 MBFor 50 channels, 1 GBThird-party software requirementsNote: These recommendations are approximate figures, as actual memoryrequirements depend on the maximum prompt duration used.The GUI utilities included with Nuance Vocalizer require the Java 2 RuntimeEnvironment (JRE) version 1.3 (or higher).■On Windows, the JRE version 1.3 is included as part of the installationpackage. Installing Nuance VocalizerInstalling Vocalizer on WindowsThe Nuance Vocalizer installation package is available for download from theNuance Technical Support Online website (support.nuance.com). Afterdownloading the appropriate installation package, follow the installationprocedures described next.To install Vocalizer on Windows:1 Double-click the downloaded executable file to run InstallShield.aThe opening dialogue window offers the option of including these GUItools and the JRE version 1.3 in your installation:■■■■■Dictionary EditorEmail Reader Configuration ToolOffline Audio GeneratorText Replacement Filter EditorVocalizer Launcher■Java 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.3In a multi-server configuration, you do not need to install these tools onevery machine, since modifications made using these tools can bedistributed to other machines. Before including them in your installation,consider:■■■If you do not plan to use the GUI tools on this machine, you are notrequired to install them or the JREIf you already have the JRE version 1.3 (or higher) installed, do notinclude the JRE in your installationIf you have an earlier version of the JRE, uninstall it before installingversion 1.3See “Third-party software requirements” on page 4.bYou also have the option of changing your installation path.
