If you are installing new cartridges(P/N 045994) in the existing check valvehousings, place the cartridge in the inletcheck valve housing with the double-holeend of the cartridge visible and place thecartridge in the outlet housing with thesingle-hole end visible.NOTEThe pump will not operateproperly unless the cartridge isinstalled in the housing in thecorrect orientation. Install the inlet check valve assembly (P/N 045722) on the bottom of theprimary pump head. Install the outlet check valve assembly (P/N 045721) onthe top of the head. Tighten the check valves fingertight, and then use awrench to tighten an additional one-quarter to one-half turn.Overtightening may damage the pump head and check valve housingand crush the check valve seats.8. Reconnect the liquid lines. Turn on the ICS-1000 main power.9. Open the eluent valve from the ICS-1000 Control Panel in Chromeleon.10. Prime the pump (see Section B.12).11. When the ICS-1000 is at operating pressure, check for leaks from the checkvalves. Tighten a check valve a little more only if it leaks.Cleaning Check Valves1. Carefully remove the check valve cartridges from the valve housings.2. Place the check valve housings and cartridges in a beaker with methanol.Sonicate or agitate the parts for several minutes.3. Rinse each check valve housing and cartridge thoroughly with filtereddeionized water.4.
