ICS-1000 Ion Chromatography SystemIMPORTANTInstalling DX-LAN DevicesIf you will also be installing a module that requires a DX-LAN interfaceconnection, verify that the following steps are completed before continuing:1. If it is not already installed, install the DX-LAN card in the module. Referto the operator’s manual for the module for installation instructions.2. Install the DX-LAN card in the computer.3. Connect the module to the DX-LAN.4. Install the DX-LAN card driver.Instructions for Steps 2 through 4 are in Installing the Chromeleon IC System(Document No. 031883).B.4 Installing the Chromeleon Software LicenseFor the Chromeleon computer to control the ICS-1000, a valid software licensemust be installed. To install the license, you first install a dongle on the computerand then enter a license “Key Code” in Chromeleon. (A dongle is an adapter thatis connected to the parallel PC interface or USB port. The dongle stores the serialnumber of a Chromeleon computer.)NOTEIf the software license is managed via a LicenseServer, a dongle is not required.1. Plug the dongle into the appropriate port on the computer (either the parallelor USB port, depending on the type of dongle). Tighten the connector screwson a parallel port dongle.2. If it is not already running, start the Chromeleon Server Monitor (selectStart>Programs>Chromeleon>Server Monitor). The Server Monitorwindow opens.B-6 Doc. 031879-01 3/03
Installing the Chromeleon Software License3. Check the server status:• If “Chromeleon Server is running idle” is displayed, the license Key Codewas entered before shipping the computer, and you can omit theremaining steps in this section. Click Close and go on to Section B.5.• If “Chromeleon Server is running idle (Evaluation Mode)” is displayed(see Figure B-4), the license Key Code has not yet been entered.
