B • InstallationThis chapter provides instructions for the initial installation of the ICS-1000 IonChromatography System.NOTENOTEThese installation instructions are also shipped with theICS-1000 as a stand-alone printed manual (DocumentNo. 031915).The order of the steps is important. It is especiallyimportant to install Chromeleon® before connecting theUSB cable and turning on the ICS-1000 power.B.1 Facility Requirements• Make sure the ICS-1000 installation site meets the power and environmentalspecifications listed in Appendix A.• Provide a sturdy workbench for the ICS-1000 of a height that ensuresconvenient access to the interior.• Allow at least 15 cm (6 in) behind the ICS-1000 for power connections andventilation. For optimal performance, install the ICS-1000 in a draft-freelocation, out of the path of air conditioning and heating vents.• (Optional) Provide a clean gas source regulated to between 0.55 and0.83 MPa (80 and 120 psi) for pressurization of the eluent reservoir.• Use ASTM filtered, Type I (18-megohm) deionized water when preparingeluent and regenerant.Doc. 031879-01 3/03 B-1
