4 • Troubleshooting• Blockages in inlet tubingKinked or clogged tubing causes the pump to be “starved” for eluent. Replacethe tubing and fittings (see Section 5.3).• Dirty check valveClean or replace the pump check valve (see Section 5.5).• Liquid leaks at junction between pump head and pump castingUse the open-end wrench (P/N 014605) provided in the <strong>ICS</strong>-<strong>1000</strong> Ship Kit(P/N 057905) to tighten the two acorn nuts that attach the pump head to thepump housing (see Figure 5-4). Tighten the nuts evenly (12 in-lb torque).If the leak persists, replace the piston seal (see Section 5.6).• Liquid leaks from the seal wash portReplace the piston seal (see Section 5.6).• Scratched pump pistonCheck the pump pistons for scratches and replace if necessary (seeSection 5.7).4.4 Pump Does Not Start• No power (front Power LED indicator is not lit)Check that the power cord is plugged in.Check the main power fuses and replace if needed (see Section 5.16).• No communication between <strong>ICS</strong>-<strong>1000</strong> and ChromeleonVerify that the USB cable is connected correctly.
