4 • Troubleshooting• Cell out of calibrationRecalibrate the cell (see Section 5.1.2).4.13 Baseline Noise or Drift• Flow system leak; erratic baselineCheck all fittings and liquid lines for leaks. Tighten or, if necessary, replaceall liquid line connections. Refer to Installation of Dionex Liquid Line Fittings(Document No. 031432) for tightening requirements. The manual is on theDionex Reference Library CD-ROM (P/N 053891).• Trapped gasesRelease any trapped gases in the cell by loosening the lines to and from thecell and then retightening them. Also loosen and retighten the fittings to andfrom the suppressor eluent ports.• Pump not properly primedPrime the pump (see Section B.12).• Contaminated or incorrect eluentRemake the eluent, using concentrated eluent and ASTM filtered, Type I (18-megohm) deionized water.• Rapid changes in ambient temperatureMake sure the ambient temperature is between 4 and 40 °C (40 and 104 °F).Make sure air conditioning and heating vents are directed away from the <strong>ICS</strong>-<strong>1000</strong> and the <strong>ICS</strong>-<strong>1000</strong> front door is closed.• Insufficient system equilibration following changes to operatingparameters; especially apparent when operating at high sensitivitiesAllow a longer system equilibration time (up to 2 hours) before startingoperation.• Incorrect suppressor operating conditionsRefer to the suppressor manual for troubleshooting information. Suppressormanuals are included on the Dionex Reference Library CD-ROM(P/N 053891), located in the <strong>ICS</strong>-<strong>1000</strong> Ship Kit (P/N 057905).Doc. 031879-01 3/03 4-19
