KAPOSVÁR
The history of Kaposvár began in 1061 when Atha, a reeve in Somogy, founded a Benedictine
monastery here. It had gone through such great development by 1749 that it became the county
town, and in 1993 it was already an episcopal seat when the parish church of the Assumption
was granted cathedral rank. The town is a centre of cultural programmes today and it boasts
an excellent spa bath as well.

Die Geschichte von Kaposvár begann im Jahr 1061, als der Somogyer Gespan Atha hier ein
Benediktiner-Kloster gründete. Im Jahr 1749 wurde der Ort Sitz des Komitats, seit 1993 ist
Kaposvár auch Bischofssitz und die Liebfrauen-Gemeindekirche wurde in den Rang einer
Kathedrale erhoben. Die Stadt ist heute ein Zentrum kultureller Veranstaltungen und verfügt
auch über ein ausgezeichnetes Heilbad.

La storia di Kaposvár comincia nel 1061 quando il castaldo di Somogy Atha fondò qui un monastero
benedettino. Arrivando al 1749 era giunta ad un tale punto di sviluppo che divenne capoluogo
di regione, nel 1993 sede vescovile la chiesa parrocchiale della Beata Vergine ottenne il rango di
cattedrale. La città oggi è sede di eventi culturali e dispone anche d’un magnifico bagne termale.

1749-re olyan mértékű fejlődésen ment át, hogy a vármegye székhelyévé, 1993-ban pedig püspöki
székvárossá is vált és székesegyházi rangot kapott a Nagyboldogasszony plébániatemplom. A
város ma kulturális rendezvények székhelye, és kiváló gyógyfürdővel is rendelkezik.
