MATTHIAS C<strong>HU</strong>RCH<br />
The former Budavári Nagyboldogasszony templom (the Church<br />
of Our Lady) has always been a prominent one in the Hungarian<br />
history. It had been standing for centuries when King Mátyás<br />
(“Righteous Matthias”) built a tower on it. Weddings of this grand<br />
king and other great figures of Hungary were held in this church,<br />
and the last king to be crowned, Károly I made his oath here as<br />
well. Today, the church is a sacred place of pilgrimage but it is<br />
open to the public, and visitors should not miss the musical high<br />
masses.<br />
DIE MATHIASKIRCHE<br />
Die Mathiaskirche spielte in der ungarischen Geschichte schon<br />
von Anfang an eine herausragende Rolle. Die Kirche stand schon<br />
seit Jahrhunderten, als König Mathias hatte auf ihr Türme bauen<br />
lassen. König Mathias und die ihm folgenden Herrscher haben in<br />
dieser Kirche ihre Hochzeiten gefeiert, Karl I., der letzte gekrönte<br />
König Ungarns hat hier seinen Eid abgelegt. Dieser heilige<br />
Wallfahrtsort, wo die Besucher herzlich willkommen sind, nimmt<br />
auch noch heute eine würdige Stellung ein. In der Kirche werden<br />
Gottesdienste mit Musik veranstaltet.<br />
