VISEGRÁD
The Tower named Solomon is situated on the hillside
beneath the castle. A fortified military camp once stood
here, where King Solomon was held between 1081-1083
at the command of King Saint Ladislaus. Visegrád and
the Upper Castle are now tourist attractions. The town
attracts thousands of tourists from in- and outside of
Hungary annually because there are great opportunities
for excursions, visiting historic monuments, reliving the
past, and taking pleasure in the beautiful sight of the
Danube Bend. Visegrád has also hosted the popular
summer palace games for several decades ; a unique
spectacle in the country. The games are staged in
the in the dress of the times of King Matthias’. In the
programme spectacular jousts are performed and the
visitor can even try archery.

Auf dem Berghang unter der Burg findet man einen
Aussichtsturm, der den Namen von Salomon trägt. An
diesem Ort befand sich früher ein befestigtes Militärlager,
wo König Salomon zwischen 1081-1083 auf Befehl vom
König St. Ladislaus eingekerkert wurde. Die Stadt Visegrad
und die Hochburg sind heute Sehenswürdigkeiten, ein
Anziehungspunkt für Tausende von ausländischen und
inländischen Touristen. Da gibt es zahlreiche Möglichkeiten
für Ausflüge zum Kennenlernen von historischen Denkmälern,
das Donauknie bietet den Besuchern einen schönen Anblick.
Seit Jahrzehnten organisiert man in Visegrád jeden Sommer
die beliebten Burgspiele, das ist eine einzigartige Attraktion
des Landes. Während der Spiele wird die Kleidung aus den
Zeiten von König Matthias getragen, es wird das damalige
Leben dargestellt. Da finden auch spektakuläre Ritterturniere
statt, die Besucher können Bogenschießen ausprobieren.
