Hollister Hills SVRA<br />

Hollister Hills SVRA was California’s first SVRA.<br />

Tucked into the Gabilan Mountains, the park is Location: San Benito County<br />

located in San Benito County, approximately Total Park Acreage: 6,623<br />

eight miles south of the town of Hollister, and<br />

Year Park became an SVRA: 1975<br />

about an hour’s drive south of San Jose.<br />

Oak-studded hillsides form the backdrop for Annual Visitation: 48,739<br />

the park, which also features picturesque Camping: Yes<br />

rolling hills and springtime wildflower displays.<br />

Agricultural lands, homes, and wineries<br />

surround this island of open space. The park covers more than 6,600 acres of varied terrain<br />

divided between the Upper Ranch and Lower Ranch.<br />

In addition to the rich cultural history, visitors are drawn to the park’s extraordinary<br />

landscape, ranging from deep oak forests, lush canyons, native grasslands, and the many<br />

miles of OHV opportunities. Hollister Hills SVRA is a family-oriented park that provides<br />

a wide selection of OHV adventures for campers, picnickers, and outdoor enthusiasts.<br />

Elevations at the park range from 660 feet to 2,425 feet. The average monthly temperature<br />

varies from the low to mid 90s in summer, to the low 30s to upper 50s in winter.<br />

Facilities and Recreational Opportunities<br />

Hollister Hills SVRA offers diverse recreational opportunities for the entire family. The<br />

SVRA is divided into two areas—the Lower Ranch and the Upper Ranch. Each area has<br />

been set aside for specifically dedicated forms of OHV recreation.<br />

Hollister Hills SVRA is open year-round<br />

for OHV use. There are multiple day<br />

use sites throughout the park, which<br />

offer shade ramadas, picnic tables,<br />

and restroom facilities. There are nine<br />

campgrounds differing in size, from<br />

smaller sites to areas set aside for<br />

large groups. There are no defined<br />

campsites within the campgrounds and<br />

spots are available on a first-come,<br />

first-serve basis. Campsite amenities<br />

include showers, flush toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. The group campsite is available<br />

by reservation and can accommodate up to 250 people.<br />
