Hungry Valley SVRA<br />
Hungry Valley SVRA is located directly south<br />
of the town of Gorman near Tejon Pass,<br />
Location: Kern, Los Angeles and<br />
paralleling Interstate 5. The park lies in parts<br />
Ventura Counties<br />
of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Kern Counties. Total Park Acreage: 19,000<br />
The SVRA provides recreation and OHV<br />

Valley and the greater Los Angeles metropolitan<br />
area. Hungry Valley SVRA is a distinctive area, Camping: Yes<br />
where diverse geological and biogeographical<br />
elements converge. The topography in the SVRA<br />
ranges from flat, broad valleys and gentle rolling landscapes, to sharp hills and steep-sided<br />
canyons that set off the more rugged hills and mountains within the park. This varied terrain<br />
provides unique opportunities for OHV enthusiasts, not to mention beautiful panoramic<br />
views of vast open spaces and vistas.<br />
Elevations at the SVRA range from 3,000 feet to nearly 6,000 feet. The climate at Hungry<br />
Valley SVRA is semi-arid. Summers are often hot, with temperatures ranging from the mid-<br />
90s to low 100s. In contrast, the winters can be quite cold; snow is not uncommon. Spring<br />
provides some of the most spectacular wildflower displays in the California State Park<br />
system.<br />
Facilities and Recreational Opportunities<br />
Individuals with all levels of OHV operator<br />
skills can enjoy the wide variety of terrain<br />
and trails available at the SVRA and the<br />
adjoining Los Padres National Forest.<br />
Motorized recreational opportunities<br />
include open areas, identified trails, tracks,<br />
play areas, special use areas, and a 4x4<br />
obstacle course. In addition to the more<br />
than 4,000 acres available for distributed<br />
riding, there are approximately 130 miles<br />
of developed trails. The SVRA also features the Quail Canyon Special Event Area that<br />
includes the Quail Canyon Motocross Track, a premier motocross track designed by Roger<br />
Decoster. This area is a family-oriented facility offering OHV opportunities for a broad<br />
variety of events.<br />
