Click OK on New Dimension Styles dialog.<br />

Click Set Current <strong>and</strong> Close on the<br />

Dimension Style Manager dialog.<br />

Apply dimensions to the drawing.<br />

Create a new dimension style with the name<br />

Tolerances.<br />

In the New Dimension Styles dialog, click<br />

the Tolerances tab.<br />

In the Tolerances tab, set the Method as<br />

Deviation.<br />

Set Precision as 0.00.<br />

Set the Upper Value <strong>and</strong> Lower Value to<br />

0.05.<br />

Set the Vertical position as Middle.<br />

Specify the following settings in the Primary<br />

Units, Text, <strong>and</strong> Symbols <strong>and</strong> Arrows tab:<br />

Primary Units tab:<br />

Unit format: Decimal<br />

Precision: 0.00<br />

Decimal Separator: ‘.’Period<br />

Geometric Dimensioning <strong>and</strong><br />

Tolerancing<br />

Earlier, you have learned how to apply tolerances to<br />

the size (dimensions) of a <strong>com</strong>ponent. However, the<br />

dimensional tolerances are not sufficient for<br />

manufacturing a <strong>com</strong>ponent. You must give<br />

tolerance values to its shape, orientation <strong>and</strong><br />

position as well. The following figure shows a note<br />

which is used to explain the tolerance value given to<br />

the shape of the object.<br />

Vertical:Centered<br />

Horizontal:Centered<br />

Text alignment: Horizontal<br />

Symbols <strong>and</strong> Arrows tab:<br />

Providing a note in a drawing may be confusing. To<br />

Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols to specify the<br />
