TUTORIAL 1<br />

In this tutorial, you create the model shown in<br />

figure:<br />

Creating the First Feature<br />

1. Create a new project with the name Autodesk<br />

<strong>Inventor</strong> <strong>2018</strong> Basics <strong>Tutorial</strong> (See Chapter 2,<br />

<strong>Tutorial</strong> 1, Creating New Project section to learn<br />

how to create a new project).<br />

2. Open a new <strong>Inventor</strong> part file using the<br />

St<strong>and</strong>ard.ipt template (See Chapter 2, <strong>Tutorial</strong> 3,<br />

Starting a New Part File section).<br />

3. Click the Start 2D sketch button on the ribbon,<br />

<strong>and</strong> select the XY Plane.<br />

4. Click the Circle Center Point button <strong>and</strong><br />

draw a circle (See Chapter 2, <strong>Tutorial</strong> 1, Starting<br />

a Sketch section to learn how to create a new<br />

project).<br />

5. Click the Line button.<br />

6. Specify a point at top left outside the circle.<br />

7. Move the pointer horizontally <strong>and</strong> notice the<br />

Horizontal constraint symbol.<br />

8. Click outside the circle. Press Esc to deactivate<br />

the Line tool.<br />

9. Click the Trim button on the Modify panel.<br />

10. Click on the portions of the sketch, as shown<br />

below.
