ANTI-ROTATION VARIATIONS

In order to throw a powerful punch or kick, or push your opponent, or hold a heavy object

on one side of your body, your trunk must maintain stability. This is accomplished by

developing strong anti-rotation muscles throughout the core to stiffen the trunk and

reduce any “energy leaks,” as Stuart McGill likes to call them. These core exercises

are especially important because they strengthen the trunk and pelvis in a way that

many compound exercises don’t.
