The final exercises in this chapter—the Turkish get-up (TGU), popularized by Pavel Tsatsouline,

and the loaded carries—stand alone. These “core exercises” actually build

full-body strength. The TGU challenges the strength and motor control of all layers of the

abdominal wall as well as stabilizers in your shoulder. Loaded carries are an effective

way to strengthen your entire trunk, pelvic region, and grip (Butcher and Rusin 2016).
