Although the new office building’s construction is
complete, the architect envisions that the architectural
process will keep evolving and inspire new
ideas. From the initial intention for the building to
communicate with both users and the surrounding
context to discovering how lightweight blocks
interact with light and shadow at different times
of day, the architect will continue their experiments
for a certain time period in order for the architectural
process they have planned for the building
to materialize.
Studio Miti’s ability to accept their inexperience
has led them down a fruitful path of trial and error.
Countless repetitions of every step in all processes
have built a body of knowledge that continues to
grow and be passed on before it gradually becomes
an integral part of their confidence in their own
experiences and instincts. It prevents architects
from solely relying on the tools, which are designed
to mitigate challenges and inconveniences and
ease the difficulties that come with decision-making
or speculating design outcomes. That is because
tools should be utilized to help with tasks such as
inspecting details and proportions. It’s essentially
the idea that architectural design does not end
on paper but is part of a process that enables
architecture to continue to exist and evolve. The
architectural process persists indefinitely beyond
the completion of the construction and how the
building is used, for the role of the controller is
merely being passed on from the architect to users,
and to the context and environment in which the
work is surrounded.
