วัสดุก่อเป็นหนึ่งในรูปแบบการก่อสร้างที่เก่าแก่มีมาแต่โบราณ ตั้งแต่การใช้
หิน อิฐ และคอนกรีตบล็อก หรือบล็อกแก้ว ที่มีพัฒนาการของเทคนิคการก่อ
และรูปแบบของวัสดุมาโดยตลอด ด้วยคุณสมบัติที่ทนทานต่อทุกสภาพอากาศ
และก่อสร้างได้ในแทบทุกภูมิประเทศ เราจึงได้เห็นสถาปัตยกรรมจากวัสดุ
ก่อที่หลากหลาย ซึ่งอีกปัจจัยสำาคัญ คือ เกิดจากความคิดสร้างสรรค์ของ
ช่างผู้สร้าง และผู้ออกแบบเอง ที่ได้ผสานความเชื่อ วัฒนธรรม ทรัพยากร
ท้องถิ่น มาต่อยอดไปกับความเป็นไปได้ของเทคนิคการก่อสร้างในแต่ละบริบท
วารสารอาษา Out of the Blocks ฉบับนี้ นำาเสนอเรื่องของการก่อร่าง
ขึ้นรูปของต่างวัสดุก่อที่ผ่านการทดลอง คิดค้นเทคนิค โดยการออกแบบที่
สร้างสรรค์ใหม่ ๆ ของสถาปนิก ร่วมกับงานวิศวกรรม และงานช่าง หรือ
ด้วยพัฒนาการของเทคโนโลยีการก่อสร้าง ทำาให้เกิดผลงานสถาปัตยกรรม
น่าสนใจ ที่นำามาเผยแพร่ไว้ในฉบับนี้ ทั้งประเภทบ้านพักอาศัยโดย Research
Studio Panin และ Muslim Architect for Community อาคารสำานักงาน
Studio Miti และ pbm รวมถึงโรงแรมโดย Ekar Architects ในส่วนของ
ASA Professional ยังมีโอกาสพูดคุยกับ จูน เซคิโน ผู้ก่อตั้ง Junsekino
Architect and Design ที่มีการทดลองใช้เทคนิคใหม่ ๆ กับวัสดุก่อในงาน
ออกแบบมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง เช่นเดียวกับ BodinChapa Architects อีกหนึ่ง
สตูดิโอที่เลือกใช้วัสดุท้องถิ่นมาสร้างสรรค์อาคารร่วมสมัยได้อย่างโดดเด่น
เมื่อความผันผวนยังคงเกิดขึ้นได้เสมอ ท่ามกลางทรัพยากรที่กำาลังค่อย ๆ
เปลี่ยนแปลงไป รวมถึงข้อจำากัดต่าง ๆ ซึ่งอาจจะส่งผลกับการอยู่อาศัย
ของมนุษย์ และสภาพแวดล้อมทางกายภาพหรือไม่ อย่างไร คงเป็นประเด็น
ที่แวดวงสถาปนิกเรายังต้องผลักดันให้เกิดการคิดค้น โดยเฉพาะการ
คิดนอกกรอบเดิม เพื่อค้นหาแนวทางใหม่ ๆ ต่อไปให้กับงานออกแบบ
สถาปัตยกรรม ที่ต้องเตรียมพร้อมรับมือกับฉากทัศน์ของอนาคตที่ยังคง
ไม่แน่นอน เมื่อเวลานั้นมาถึง
Masonry building materials, such as stones, bricks, concrete blocks,
and glass blocks, have been used since ancient times. These materials
have properties that make them resistant to all weather conditions
and suitable for construction in various terrains. Over time, construction
techniques and the form of these materials have evolved.
We have observed architectural structures constructed using a
diverse range of construction materials. Another crucial determinant
is the ingenuity of the builders and architects responsible for their
design, which amalgamates beliefs, culture, and local resources to
enhance the boundless potential of construction methods in any
specific context.
This issue of ASA, Out of the Blocks, focuses on the creation and
testing of different masonry building materials. It showcases the
innovative designs of architects, which combine engineering and
craftsmanship, as well as advancements in construction technology.
The issue features various architectural works, including house
designs by Research Studio Panin and Muslim Architect for Community,
office buildings by Studio Miti, a hotel by Ekar Architects, and
a mixed-use building by pbm. ASA Professional features an article
showcasing the innovative practices of Jun Sekino, the founder of
Junsekino Architect and Design, who consistently explores new
approaches in architectural use of material. Additionally, the professional
studio highlights BodinChapa Architects, an emerging studio
that utilizes local materials to construct remarkable modern
architecture.
Despite the gradual and drastic changes in resources and various
limitations that can impact human habitation and the physical
environment, volatility can still arise. This presents a challenge
that architects must address by pushing for innovation. It is crucial
for architects to think out of the box, explore beyond conventional
methods, and continuously explore new approaches to architectural
design. Architects must anticipate and address future eventualities
that remain unpredictable until they occur.
