The exhibition is organized into separate exhibitions<br />
in the main Giardini and Arsenale buildings that<br />
explore African architecture, decolonization, and<br />
diaspora. These exhibitions are titled “Force Majeure”<br />
and “Dangerous Liaisons.” Additionally, four other<br />
special projects are presented in collaboration<br />
with the curators, focusing on topics such as<br />
Food, Agriculture & Climate Change, Gender &<br />
Geography, architecture and memory in “Mnemonic,”<br />
and special works by “Guests from the Future.”<br />
In total, the event had over 89 exhibitors. 50%<br />
originate from Africa or the African diaspora. The<br />
gender balance is 50/50. The average age of all<br />
participants was 43 years. Over 70% of The Laboratory<br />
of the Future exhibits were curated from<br />
submissions by practices working individually or<br />
in a very small team, marking the first instance of<br />
such a high participation rate. These data indicate<br />
a significant transformation in the culture of architectural<br />
production and a further evolution in<br />
participation in this global exhibition.<br />
