standards are in place through the ‘Be <strong>Whale</strong> Wise’ programme, and commercial boats are generally aware<br />

of and follow the guidelines, recreational boat owners are not as well informed, and increasing education<br />

amongst these boat owners about wildlife viewing etiquette remains a priority. (Ford et al., 2000 and Trites<br />

& Bain, 2000).<br />
