accurately, preferably with electr<strong>on</strong>ic balance, measuring jars and cylinders.<br />
� As most of them d<strong>on</strong>‟t dissolve in water, a proper solvent like acet<strong>on</strong>e or alcohol etc.<br />

� Purchase of required amounts PGRs as they are costly and difficult to store.<br />
� Horm<strong>on</strong>es are known to deteriorate faster in warmer temperatures. Therefore, they<br />
must be stored in cool and dry places preferably in a refrigerator.<br />

5.2.4 Packing and Transport of <strong>Nursery</strong> Plants<br />
Packing: It is defined as placing the nursery plants or propagating materials into a<br />
suitable c<strong>on</strong>tainer for maintaining their viability and vitality during storage and transport.<br />
Packing of nursery material is to be d<strong>on</strong>e from time to time. Emphasis should be given <strong>on</strong><br />
packaging while transporting plants over a l<strong>on</strong>ger distance. To have a better price of the<br />
products, a nurseryman should pay high attenti<strong>on</strong> to the packing of the planting material.<br />
Advantages of Packing<br />
� Packaging protects the planting material from hazards caused during transport and<br />
prevents them from microbial and insect damage. It minimizes the physiological and<br />
biological changes taking in the planting material during transportati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
� Packing must maintain the natural c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong> of seedling of nursery plants and<br />
improve the shelf life of seedlings.<br />
� Necessary informati<strong>on</strong> like name of seedling, name of nursery, age of seedling, etc.<br />
can be attached with packing boxes.<br />
