for library are good source to have informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> huge number of plants. This is an easy<br />

way of documentati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Digitizati<strong>on</strong><br />

Computerized database of plants with photographs which enables ready to serve soft<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> c<strong>on</strong>vertible to visual source and greatest c<strong>on</strong>venience for mobility of the<br />

material. It can be paperless source of which can be an internati<strong>on</strong>al source of plant<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> without boundaries and universal applicability. This can be huge database<br />

from many countries and institutes.<br />

Planting<br />

Planting live plantlets provide an excellent opportunity to learn about plants over a<br />

period of time. Well drained light soils with good moisture retenti<strong>on</strong> are good for<br />

planting library plants. Planting should be d<strong>on</strong>e when soil is warm. To make soil more<br />

suitable and workable apply light water to the soil three hours prior to planting. Avoid<br />

over watering. To avoid stress planting should be d<strong>on</strong>e in late afterno<strong>on</strong>. Water<br />

stagnati<strong>on</strong> results in root rot or susceptible to fungal diseases. Set plants in the ground at<br />

the same depth as they were in c<strong>on</strong>tainer.<br />

9.2.2 Locati<strong>on</strong> Specific Library Plant Arrangement<br />

Climate<br />

Climate has direct effect <strong>on</strong> health and vigor of plant. The climate of the area is a<br />

permanent feature and cannot be changed. The climate and type of soil, rainfall,<br />

temperature, and humidity play an important role in sustainability of the plants. It<br />

influences the growth of the plants. Many plants are capable to grow in diversified<br />

climatic c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s but preference should be given to well growing local species.<br />

Plants Growing in Sunlight<br />

Selecti<strong>on</strong> of plants: Choose desirable plants for particular area. Select popular plants<br />

suitable for the regi<strong>on</strong>. The geographic locati<strong>on</strong> of that area is important c<strong>on</strong>siderati<strong>on</strong><br />

while selecting plants. The performance of plant differs from site to site and climatic<br />

c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s e.g. plains, tropics, temperate or coastal areas.<br />

Some of the plants are very good in protecting envir<strong>on</strong>ment and helps in bringing<br />

down polluti<strong>on</strong> and maintain the balance of the nature. Some of the plants can tolerate<br />

extreme c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

Annuals<br />

An annual is the plant which completes its life cycle in a single seas<strong>on</strong>. It grows<br />

from seed to flowering in a single seas<strong>on</strong>; they give quick effect and are short lived but<br />

bring fantastic colors. They are most comm<strong>on</strong>ly used in m<strong>on</strong>so<strong>on</strong> and summer. Some of<br />

the best growing annuals are marigold, aster, petunia, salvia, zinnia .larkspur and cosmos.<br />

They are grown by two ways by direct seeding and raising seedlings in the nursery and<br />
