The look is inspired by a combination of eclectic experiences recalling Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Tel Aviv and a former 1950s church. Leonardo Weissmann, former bar manager of the legendary Universum lounge and Marbu bar, developed the Blacklist Bar concept; while Patrick Rexhausen, known for creating innovative kitchen concepts in the German culinary scene for over 25 years, oversees the delicious treats from the kitchen. This is also the bar where fashionable guests party to the city’s best DJs. At the beginning of 2016, Boris Radczun, Stephan Landwehr and Moritz Estermann of the Grill Royal group took over the famed establishment to resuscitate the allure of its early days bearing in mind the advice of the original founders. Now, the breakfast and lunch staples are joined by a new evening menu as well as a fine wine selection and plat du jour assortment. Classic Austrian cuisine at its best: marinated cap of rump, breaded fried chicken with potato salad and Viennese schnitzel with parsley potatoes, cranberries and cucumber salad are only a few of the highlights. All dishes are deftly prepared using high-quality ingredients sourced from a wide network of regional producers, as well as areas such as Voralberg, Salzburg, Vienna and Einstein unter den Linden other Austrian regions. With respect for the original charm of the house, the interior has been carefully renovated and furnished with discreet smoke glass mirrors while preserving the homely brown tones of wood and leather. Known for its iconic frame-covered walls, the revived decoration now focuses on original photographs by Robert Lebeck and Susanne Shapovalow as well as works by noteworthy contemporary artists. Without losing touch with its distinguished past, the house has at the same time an eye toward the future, making it all the more of a unique destination. From early in the morning until well after dark, new and old Berliners, politicians, journalists, tourists and all kinds of flaneurs will visit Einstein unter den Linden to enjoy one of the finest Austrian cuisines in the city.
