Fatima and Maria ontmoeten elkaar in de wachtrij van een ziekenhuis. Op het eerste gezicht
hebben de twee meisjes weinig gemeen. Toch groeit er langzaam maar zeker een vriendschap
tussen hen en vinden ze steun bij elkaar. Aan de hand van Maria’s verhalen ontmoeten we
de straatkraameigenaars van T-Junction in Dar-es Salaam: een hechte gemeenschap aan de
rand van de maatschappij die liefde en leed met elkaar deelt. Fatima komt uit een welgesteld
Indisch-Tanzaniaans gezin. Haar verhaal verkent de thema’s van etniciteit en sociale klassen

Fatima et Maria se recontrent dans une file d’attente à l’hôpital. À première vue, elles ont peu de choses
en commun. Néanmoins, elles vont se soutenir mutuellement et une amitié finit par naître entre elles. À
travers les récits de Maria, nous faisons connaissance des propriétaires de stands au marché de T-Junction
à Dar-es Salaam : en marge de la société, une communauté solide qui partage amours et peines. Fatima
est issue d’une famille indo-tanzanienne aisée. Son histoire explore les thèmes de l’ethnicité et des classes

T-Junction is a story of a friendship between two young women, Fatima and Maria, who meet in the
unlikely location of a hospital queue and slowly begin to share their stories. As Maria’s story comes to
life, we meet her friends and family, market stall owners of T-Junction in Dar-es Salaam, who experience
love and laughter alongside the harsh reality of police brutality. As Fatima’s late father is Indian-Tanzanian,
her story explores the themes of ethnicity and class within Tanzanian society. WINNER OF
