Franstalige Europese zwarte vrouwen verwoorden hun ervaringen. Zwarte lichamen in
blanke omgevingen. Geen enkel onderwerp wordt geschuwd, gaande van werkgerelateerd
racisme tot het exotiseren van de seksualiteit van deze vrouwen. Vaak krijgen ze te maken
met discriminatie omwille van twee aspecten van hun identiteit: vrouw zijn en zwart zijn.
De documentaire onderzoekt de snijpunten van discriminatie, kunst en zwart zijn in al zijn
uitingen.
Ouvrir La Voix est un documentaire sur les femmes noires issues de l’histoire coloniale européenne en
Afrique et aux Antilles. Le film est centré sur l’expérience de la différence en tant que femme noire et
des clichés spécifiques liés à ces deux dimensions indissociables de notre identité “femme” et “noire”. Il
y est notamment question des intersections de discriminations, d’art, de la pluralité de nos parcours de
vies et de la nécessité de se réapproprier la narration.
European French-speaking black women articulate their experiences. Black bodies in white environments.
No subject is shunned, ranging from work-related racism to the exoticizing of the sexuality of
these women. They are often faced with discrimination because of two aspects of their identity: being
a woman and being black. The documentary investigates the intersections of discrimination, art and
being black in all its expressions.
