3.8.7.3 Nettbasert støtte<br />

Utover ønsket om selvstendig læring finner vi to begrunnelser for at et nettbasert<br />

tilbud kan være spesielt nyttig. For det første gjør et nettbasert tilbud at kandidatene<br />

kan få visualisert kompleksiteten i søkeprosessene.<br />

Kandidaten i sitatet som følger foreslår helt konkret at en “video tutorial” ville<br />

dekket dette behovet, og ville gitt bedre skreddersydd støtte enn det et vanlig<br />

ansikt-til-ansikt-kurs kan tilby. Denne kandidatens innspill gir for øvrig et interessant<br />

perspektiv på hvordan et nettbasert forskerstøttetilbud kan benytte seg av<br />

ulike medier for å legge til rette for læring.<br />

I think that I would like to see some practical example of search strategies<br />

carried out. If you can follow search strategies, you can apply your own<br />

strategy according to the strategy that you can see as an example. That<br />

would be really helpful. And it should be a real strategy, not as a thought<br />

example but an example that has complexity in it. Because that is a problem<br />

when doing a standardized course in information management. […]Then it<br />

is how to manage your search strategy. How to carry out a search strategy.<br />

How do you manage the amount of information that you get? How do you<br />

secure that you don’t find the same things a lot of times. You know, practical<br />

information about how to do it. I think it could be really helpful. Having<br />

a video tutorial : “how to do it”, then you would see how it’s done. That<br />

would be a lot easier, because that kind of teaching would take a lot of time<br />

if it was done by a person, but if you can access the information online, then<br />

you can get it when you need it. I think that would be really helpful; source<br />

search strategy, and management of search strategy. (Aalborg P1)<br />

For det andre kan nettbasert støtte styrke kommunikasjonen mellom ph.d.-kandidatene.<br />

Det kan være med på å bygge opp den sosiale dimensjonen ved en<br />

ph.d.-utdanning. Viktigheten av denne sosiale dimensjonen framheves av flere i<br />

intervjuene: “Something that is important is the interaction with other people, in<br />

real time or in the virtual” (Aalborg P7). Flere har konkrete forslag til hvordan<br />

kommunikasjonen kan forsterkes, nemlig ved at det nettbaserte opplegget gir muligheter<br />

for å bygge fellesskap:<br />

[…] We should build some kind of community, […] to keep update is very<br />

important and one person cannot do that. Everyone must help each other.<br />

[…]So building a community and let them communicate with each other,<br />

that is very important. (Aalborg P4)
