Tarm sprang up around the railway, which came to the<br />
town in 1875 and provided the basis for rapid development.<br />
Today, the town still has a railway station and a big<br />
secondary school. In summer there’s extra life and activity<br />
in the town with the popular Wednesday market and<br />
concerts in the church.<br />
The Wednesday market is a big drawcard, attracting small<br />
shopkeepers and guests from both near and far every<br />
Wednesday throughout summer. The commercial tradition<br />
is being continued in the present-day flea market, which is<br />
definitely worth a visit.<br />
Nature can be enjoyed just outside the town. This includes<br />
Foersum Teglværk’s lake, with a put-and-take lake in the<br />
most attractive environment, and trout, perch, pike, zander<br />
and eels swimming in one of Denmark’s oldest lakes.<br />
You can also put on your hiking boots and explore the big<br />
heath area Borris Sønderland or the protected Lønborg<br />
moor, where the rare bell heather grows, and the other<br />
side of the entire Skjern Å area, with rope ferries, path<br />
systems and bird towers, and where the actual river delta<br />
can be seen.<br />
