neue, lagunenförmige Südstrand mit Rettungsschwimmern
während der Hochsaison – wird auf der Südseite der
Einfahrt liegen.

The harbour in Hvide Sande is in the process of being
expanded. The three big wind turbines – Vestas turbines
140 metres high – were erected in December 2011 to
contribute to the new harbour facilities. Work is in progress
to upgrade the Ringkøbing-Hvide Sande road to national
status – a necessary step in the construction of a unified
national transport network connected with the harbour
expansion, under which both jetties will be extended, and
a new harbour, “Vesthavnen”, will be constructed north of
the entrance. A 150 metre-long and 35 metre-wide pier/
street for the handling of heavy goods and the entrance
will be excavated to a depth of 6 metres from the present
4.5. The heavy current cables underneath the entrance
have been relaid to a safe depth for the ships.
The artwork “Vestled” will be further developed before the
end of the construction work in 2013, and there are hopeful
plans for a bicycle/walking path to connect the nature
path, which now opens into the street Fabriksvej, and the
path system at Parallelvej/Troldbjergvej. All this will change
the general layout of the harbour so that all heavy work
will proceed largely at the west harbour – the north side
of the entrance, while the fishing boats with edible fish will
continue to moor at the auction hall on the south side. The
swimming beach – the new lagoon-like south beach with
lifesavers during the peak season – will also be south of
the approach.
