Ushiro-goshi

Back Hip Throw

Ushiro-goshi is used to counter a hip throw. Putting your arms around

your opponent's waist from behind, you lean backward, swing him up in the

air, and drop him on his back.

This must be done quickly or your opponent may wrap his legs around

yours. The left knee as well as the arms may be used to swing him off the

mat.

his waist.

310. While holding him close to you, straighten

your legs and bend your body backward.

311. Swing him up off the mat.

312. As he begins to come down, move your legs

back.
