I have not seen any calyptra in the material examined, but<br />
Venturi mentions the calyptra as being densely hairy (den-<br />
se pilosa). Although the leaf base of U. cochleata is generally<br />

broader and more concave than that of U. laticiliata, the leaf<br />
forms of both species are on the whole very much alike and it<br />
is almost impossible to distinguish them only by<br />
their leaves.<br />
As to the distinction of U. lutea and U. cochleata the deciding<br />
